Madison and Garrett’s wedding at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MO, was a beautiful celebration. It took place on a hot September day. First, Madison got ready at a whimsical Harry Potter-themed Airbnb. Then, the day moved into a rose garden first touch. Overall, every part of the day was full of heart, tradition, and personal touches.

Getting Ready: A Whimsical Start
The day started with Madison getting ready at a charming Harry Potter-themed Airbnb. The space was full of fun details that brought a smile to everyone’s face. Additionally, the historic home had a whimsical feel. As a result, it was perfect for capturing quiet, playful moments before the big day began.
First, I photographed Madison’s wedding details on the penny tile in the bathroom. I even got some quick shots of the details in the tub because the light was just perfect there! Madison had some inspiration photos she had shown me of a bride in a bathtub on her wedding morning. Since she had a lovely robe that fit the vibe beautifully, we made sure to get some shots. Meanwhile, the bright natural light created a soft, romantic atmosphere for the images.

Next, Madison’s family joined her as her mom helped her into her dress. Her sisters and future mother-in-law also assisted with the finishing touches. Then, we captured a sweet moment when her dad entered the room for a first look. After that, an emotional reveal with her bridesmaids followed.

First Touch in the Rose Garden
After the joyful moments at the Airbnb, we rushed over to the church. There, Madison and Garrett shared a first touch. They also shared a moment of prayer together in the shade of the garden. Then, they exchanged gifts in the lovely rose garden at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. This is Madison’s home parish which made it all the more sweet. Altogether, the garden setting made for a tender, intimate start to their wedding day in St. Joseph, Missouri.

The Ceremony at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church
The ceremony itself was filled with tradition and meaning. Garrett’s reaction, when he first saw Madison at the altar, was heartfelt and couldn’t be sweeter. As a result, there wasn’t a dry eye in the church. Meanwhile, the church’s beautiful skylight lit the ceremony perfectly. This was especially true during important moments like the consecration. After their first kiss, the couple exited surrounded by bubbles. This created a joyful, celebratory scene which is always fun to photograph.

Overall, a wedding at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MO, comes with a built-in sense of reverence. This ceremony captured all of that and more.
Portraits Around St. Joseph, Missouri
Next, we took family portraits inside the church and Afterward, we made a fun, unexpected stop at QuikTrip. It’s one of Garrett’s favorite snack spots so we made sure he got a taquito. From there, the wedding party headed to the Remington Nature Center. There, they braved the heat for some portraits the bride and groom would cherish forever.

The bridesmaids looked stunning in floor length brown gowns. Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen matched the elegance of the day in classic black tuxes. It was hot, but the couple knew the photos would be worth it in the long run.

Reception in Summer’s Hall
Once outdoor photos wrapped up, we returned to the church for the reception in Summer’s Hall. The space was decorated beautifully with drapery and candles. As a result, it created a romantic, warm atmosphere. One personal favorite touch was a table full of snacks from Garrett’s home of Louisiana. This brought a piece of his roots into the celebration.

Then, the bride and groom surprised their guests with a choreographed first dance. It took place on a cute checkered dance floor. After dinner, there were heartfelt speeches from the maids of honor, the best man, and the father of the bride. Afterward, the dance floor opened up for the night. We also grabbed some quick, adorable shots of the funfetti cake cutting.

As the night went on, Madison and Garrett danced surrounded by friends and family. Overall, it was a day filled with love, joy, and memories. Ultimately, it captured the true essence of a wedding at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MO.
